Politics stood down to the personal revolt
A banner to raise but hands sought hands to hold
Strength is in our will, but desire has been killed
A voice destroyed and dried out from bitter pills

Skyline psychedelics, a short window to enjoy this time
Found ourselves in hysterics, all whites in our eyes
Fatalists, escapists, reminders we exist
Strategy for an exit, while taking stock of all we’d miss
Burning through the barflies and recollections over drinks
Stories from a walking example who never thought to stop and think
Emerging with an insight, what could’ve been done to get it right
Knowing nothing of right now and why we wake and wince
Blackened blues, we once had options and a future to choose
What little we still have is so little left to lose
Fear, despair, a life of panic, an undeniable darker truth

Crash, burn learn from what you can walk from
Seconds from death and a second guess set to song
All in the blood you didn’t want spilled loose
All in that easy out down a path you couldn’t choose
Live a life of come and go, it’s almost all we know
Tears shed for the years of having somewhere to go
Lost to time and the fine line between nobility
And nihilism, of purpose and hostility
City on the mend, a new way out of a dead end
With every step a possible trap, be on the defense
Undefined, if you’re so inclined, snap to life
Follow romantic ideals of taking back the night
Let it stew upon your senses, all that we have had
Live through and live with a moment to reflect
Leave while you can, but now we’re all locked in
Sadness as a course of action will curse you in the end

Stepping up to fall, never saw yourself outliving them all
Outlasted but outclassed by pretty young things coming up fast
Last to die of a dying breed, never try without a need
Shed no tears, hold no grudges, pull no punches to pave over your past
Nothing in this town makes us feel we’re on solid ground
Wake and curse each day, flinch and turn with every sound
Narcotic side quests, someone to live for and do our best
Keeping us here keeping on, onward awkwardly to what’s next
The rest of your night could be the rest of your life
Touch wood, have some faith in everything your body can take
What good does that do, try top what you just lived through
In the end what rang true? You're only worth what you can do
Nothing that I've found can stop the hurting in my head
A broken heart strained by burden, nothing said better than that
Fixate on your vision, felt we could connect
And fall into something more instead of crashing to an end

Summer Sun set on our sensational youths,
no rewards or recognition, it’s just another day
The tension of the past tense and our unspoken truths,
In the end we forced no change, we just got in the way
Settle our shot nerves in the wreckage and smoke
tomorrow we can talk about where we can go
Right now what matters is a ride home
Tired, sad and sick of the total lack of hope
Took what we had for granted, left discontent unchecked
Came down so heavy handed now the system’s wrecked
Raining down a reckoning so consolidate all that's left
Watched it go down swinging with a collective dying breath
In the end it all came to a head, the proverbial fuse was lit
In days our lives changed with no time to react
Just another city where the same old story’s set
Tame the sadness in your heart and horror in your head

A traffic jam of insults at the back of my throat
Too many despicable traits to note
I’ve laughed at less poignant deaths
The enormity of this loss is yet to hit
Nothing nice to say so I choose to hold my peace
And live without having it saddened me
I guess I’ll only care when it kills who I care for
Hope for the best for those I adore
Let them be unaffected, grieve quick and move on
Closeness in the closure we’d all want
Between intimacy and not knowing well enough
Between honesty and not leaving it be
Let your ghost leave them be, spare haunting me
I couldn't care less for your work or your story
The good no one spoke, it was never in you
Broken bonds in your wake and a buried truth

I’m not fighting my way out of this corner anymore
I’ve been here before
Blame it on distance, colder conditions
I’m under the influence of joyless divisions
Horizons obscured, proposal absurd
The stupidest thing that I ever heard
What did you expect, one drama to the next?
For me to hang from your every word
Sought to have brought all we longed for
within reach so we could wait out our grief
All we’ve got is time
Whatever was said, I guess it struck a chord
sparked an endless back and forth
The cacophony of the argument
close my eyes at night and I still hear it
Time stands still with a look that could kill
A request I could never fulfil
Decorations and trees can come down in June
We’re still haunted by the festive spirit
Stir crazy seas that we’ll never reach
Tension so thick, cut it and it bleeds
Kill each other to kill time

Suffer the sins, the mess we got you in
And leave no means to an end
What could be said to justify any of this?
What have we buried our futures in?
Nowhere to escape to, no one has an answer
Hoping for a breakthrough, you’ve done enough
Live with contempt, and they'll live with our debt
Set and rise and fall, our pasts have failed us all
Agents of anger existing day to day to death
Set fires to light our way, to burn it clean
Tried to hedge our bets on what’s not gone down yet
Was it all lost or let go? Taken? It’s not known
We were born with the nerve and all we don’t deserve
Potential to waste and errors to overcome
All we could afford and stole in a search for more
Left love behind to leave others undone

Death’ll get you out there someday
Time will teach you not to tempt fate
Wasn’t decided above or by luck
Or the years in which we live or one bad day
Righteous or misguided, anger got us
Cheated or slighted, we’re owed what’s ours
Shine a light and we were right to pick a fight
Without faith or future the love was a lie
Possessed by passion a romance blossoms
Learned to like having hate for a purpose
A song that saves will find our loss, our rage
It’s your time to shine, the world’s your stage

So many stories you’ve heard before
If we’re not struggling we’re just bored
To tears, to death, whatever’s next
Good with the bad quietly detached
You’re not fooled, I’m not convinced
No promise of a fitting end
A year resolved I won't buy in
Wanting’s there but the flesh is weak
Crimes of thought you dare not speak
Exclaim what’s sad, celebrate what’s bleak
No contingency plan and no relief
Feel it most, we lose all hope,
Lose your way and sell your soul
Going down and spinning out
